About this Project
Project Overview
Flat Patrol is a ~20-second motion-comic teaser that spoofs “timeline law enforcement” with deadpan cop-drama intensity. Partnering with LA-based creator Bryce M., Maveristic built a vertical trailer where a London unit treats memes like misdemeanors—storming a neon-lit bedroom, cutting to a rapid arrest montage, and closing on a hero-walk tagline: “Protect & Unfollow.”
Scope of Work
Dual style path: Comic (primary) + Poster/Cinematic (A/B option)
AI-assisted key art + in-house paint-overs (Frames 1–4)
Minimal-motion animatic timed to VO beats (9:16 master)
Panel-by-panel VO scripting and cast direction (ElevenLabs)
SFX bed: sirens, door-kick hit, cuffs “snap,” subtle UI glitches
Clean caption/title animation (no burned-in text on masters)
Final mastering & QC for streaming/social platforms
Process & Approach
Discovery & Script Pass – Locked 4-beat structure: Premise → Squad Entry → Arrest Montage (3-up composite) → Tagline.
Style Development – Glitch-edged comic look vs clean cinematic poster; character consistency passes (faces, uniforms, lighting).
Motion Pass – Identity-safe, minimal movement to land jokes on VO (push-ins, light sweeps, micro-gestures).
VO Production – Dry narrator, two officers, exasperated Chief; lines curated from Bryce’s gag menu.
Sound Design – Distant siren ambience, impact hits, device foley, tasteful glitch ticks; mixed under VO.
Vertical-first Delivery – Optimized in 9:16 (1080×1920) with clean plates for typography in edit.
Client Reviews – Iterative previews via Drive; Poster/Cinematic retained for A/B in final edit.
Storytelling
Across a focused sprint, Flat Patrol evolved from outline to animatic without losing satirical bite.
Premise: London skyline with social-feed glitch cues sets the “terms & conditions” vibe.
Squad Entry: Officers breach; Cop 1’s command gesture hits the “Step away from the meme!” line.
Arrest Montage: Three stacked mini-scenes—laptop bagged, mid-tweet cuffs, evidence close-up—buttoned by “Tell it to the algorithm.”
Tagline: Hero walk through red/blue haze; the Chief’s off-screen outburst lands the final laugh before title cadence.
Clean plates keep typography flexible; VO/SFX pacing is locked for a crisp, platform-ready cut.
